The Demise of English Dreaming, English Rain

There is a possibility that this blog may have to disappear from the world of global public access within the next few months. If this happens, there will be an alternative. It is most likely to take the form of an occasional email newsletter containing details of any mainstream books I write, my new limited edition psychogeography/shadow history audios and some blog-like writing on apparently random aspects of the world as seen through a one-eyed ‘word slut’. As it would be subscription only, it might be more freewheeling. Imagine something like Popbitch without the pop.

If in the event of the demise of English Dreaming, English Rain you would like to receive such a newsletter, please send you email details to inside.knowledge@gmail.com.

why? Is this evasive action? Has something serious happened??

The reason in short: ‘a professional issue’.

I really do not want to give up this blog. I deeply love writing it. It is exorcism, letters from the heart and as close as I am likely to get to publishing conversational prose. I will try to avoid taking it down, but if it goes, it will probably be missed most by me.

Zirelda – please keep reading. If the lights have to go out, it will not be for a few weeks. I am sure the eye patch will be featured in the newsletter if it comes to that.

GC – Yep, crap about captures it.

why not just dim the lights. If you are not going to write in it anymore why not just keep it up for the time being that way people who have not come across it can still read your lyrical words?

I'd be very sad to see EDER close. It may be a poor substitute for a few pints down the Carlton with you, but it _is_ still a substitute of sorts. Very important out here in the damn desert. Besides which, it has a unique tone which I think is important to be heard.

I do understand, of course. But, as you and Katz say, crap.

'Crap' does sum that up very nicely. Put me on the newsletter list!!

Your blog is sometimes a home away from home. When I'm homesick, which still happnes a lot, even after almsot 7 years away, it cheers me up no end, remembering what British people are like, and how we refuse to fit the mould. And then it's because I've met you, too, and it's a personal link, not just a great blog to read.
Surreal girl, let's hope that whatever that good thing was, happens again...

I think I must put a curse on all the blogs I link to... they all stop and believe it or not with the millions out there it is hard to find good ones to read!!

I don't come here often, but when I do I read every single word on the screen. The words are often so poetic and like a river, flowing all together nicely nicely. It would be a great shame if you shut down your blog. I hope it won't happen.

Tim – Once you are out of the desert I am hoping we can have few pints in new dens of depravity/zones of increased potential. You and Chandira are making me feel like English Dreaming, English Rain serves a surprise purpose as an exile service. If that is true, it is grand compliment and will make it even harder to spike it.

Surreal Girl – A comment at last! Wah-hey!

Chandira – Trust me, I will try to keep the home fires burning.

Mirk – A curse? That figures.

Milla – Thank you for your kind words. I promise, I will only turn off the lights as a last resort.
