Turnip-headed Twats
I miss working for a ballsy, news organization that actually starts from the perspective of what can be said instead of what will not upset those being written about. The recurrent legal grief I get every time I try to tell truth in print is seriously making me consider taking a Masters in Media Law. I now certainly understand Heinlein’s Year They Hanged the Lawyers.
Come the ELF revolution, the lawyers will not be hanged or even put against a wall and shot, but most of them will be looking for a new profession. Possibly farming turnips.

Are there any ballsy news organizations left?
I think farming turnips (or, at least, falling off turnip trucks) would be an appropriate vocation.
I'm apparently going to have to find out what the ELF revolution is. But I like the turnip farming idea.
I used to work for lawyers and pretty much share your opinion from the inside of the office instead of the outside.
They made my life miserable during my divorce as they charged me oodles of money while at the same time telling me there isn't much they could do for me but couldn't answer the question "Then why do I need you?"
You have just worked out that lawyers are(as we say) nep-heided twats
it wont be long until we all have at least one lawyer (or its admin version compliance) sitting slightly higher up behind us.
common law being based on what society finds normal (a little over simplified but you know!) and modern technology means we can now standardise to the most annoyingly fine detail.
just as blairs cctv will look for "people not doing what the others do" so will compliance and lawyers who ensure we all say the same and think the same.
No Mirk, as I lived with one for more than seven years, I long ago worked them out as a pox on the creative process way back.
It is just that whenever I have to deal with them, they always seem to have progressed to an even higher level of fresh turnip-ness than before.
I suspect turnip farmers the world over are very worried now .
