A Rich Background of Distant Sirens and Growling Dogs
Thanks so much to Greg for giving me so much time to ramble and rant like the dangerous lunatic I so clearly am. I owe him extra special thanks for ensuring that this is the first interview I have ever done that closes with the amazing sound of Junior Murvin’s Police and Thieves. My appearances on News at Ten were never like this.

Very interesting podcast, David. Thank you. You made a lot of sense, frighteningly ;) Good to hear you *grin*.
I'm listening now. :) How cool to hear your voice.
I thought the podcast was great David. We are all our own worst critics after all...your passion for the topics and your insights/wisdom was an inspiration.
Hi David. Yet another fine interview from Occult of Personality. I hope you do another sometime in the future.
I'm now looking forward to reading Secrets and Lies.
The background noises sure reminded me of my London days.
I did thank Greg for another fine choice of closing track, but he made it clear that it was your decision and not his.
Kind Regards.
Z – I am glad you enjoyed.
FilmNoir – I often find praise hard to take, but thank you.
Martin – Greg has mighty taste in music and seems to love some of the same songs I cherish. I merely suggested a few apposite tracks and he found one that perfectly hit on the Ford Cortina/”Get your strides on son, you’re nicked” elements of the culture that were part of my childhood and reflect my take on the crime scene as I have written about it in Global Gangland.
Will be making me way over to the podcast as soon as me has the time to listen to it without interruption.
will comment then.
Stay Stompy
David, I am enjoying your podcast in segments, due to various, ahem, interruptions. It's very interesting where your inspiration has come from, and the path through which it has taken you. Your descriptions and comments really resonate with me. Love the "sound effects" and the music as well. :)
Great stuff. Very classy.
Hi David.
You're obviously a lot younger than me if you have childhood memories of the ”Get your strides on son, you’re nicked” culture, Cortinas and all. One of the things I remember were the weekly meetings in upstairs rooms in pubs hosted by the CID. Two walls of the room were always groaning with food supplied by the Waldorf Hotel.
A pub landlord could literally get away with murder as long as he brought or sent a contribution along, but woebetide him if he didn't.
I think it was Sir Robert Mark who put an end to this particular practice. The lads weren't best pleased when he announced that they might have to spend some time in uniform if they wanted to progress in their careers.
really impressive interview d
I also would like to thank Greg for giving you so much time to ramble and rant like the dangerous lunatic! Otherwise I might not have gotten as much incite out of the podcast as I did. Damn it makes you think, well it has me!!! Excellent.
