Atomic Sun Smile
Before I print the acknowledgements as they appear in the book, there a few extra people to thank. Firstly there is my editor, Roland, for gig itself. Then there are The Dove and Jeff Edmundson, who provided both writing soundtracks and the sustaining support of friendship. Most of all, there is Matt Adams. The book is truly a joint work and co-authoring with him made the whole writing process a lot less lonely and massively more fun than usual.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
David would like to thank:
Surreal Girl, who despite the five broken ribs, falls down stairs and death threats is always there to hold my hand and make the world a better place with an atomic sun smile and a cup of tea; Tim, Stephen and Sean – brothers by other mothers; and Dickon, the only man I know likely to die a more ridiculous death than me.

Awesome.. I have to get that.
Atomic sun smile. I like that.
Surreal Girl must rock. :)
I found the book on Amazon. Nifty.
Who is that girl ;-0)
i think i know
I feel somewhat flattered and also at a temporal loss for words, which for me is an uncommon event.
Thank you, I think, or at least yes I probably will, as I believe if I was going to die a normal humdrum death it would have happened to me years ago, lord only knows its had plenty of fine opportunities in the past.
I only hope that there is someone who knows me well enough to hide the evidence first and put across a partially noble and heroic spin on events to save my family at least some humiliation.
Plus I hope that I live long enough to think up a memorable and lasting quote to leave on my headstone, not something pants like "bugger, I thought that the pigeon would miss me!"
A belated congratulations, David.
It is always important to give thanks.
Puss
Chandira – Not sure awesome is my word for it, but I think you might enjoy, especially some of the preacher stories.
MTM – You should see it. There is no other phrase that comes close to capturing it.
Z – She does. I like the word nifty. I would love to see that in a review.
Anonymous – You should sign yourself in Mrs. as I have a very good idea who you are. BTW, we must get together soon, your company is always missed.
Dickon – Somehow I think the Cosmic Joker is not through playing with you yet.
Flyingbird –Thanks for congratulation. The next beer is on me.
Puss – Yes, thanks is important. More than manners, it is a celebration that there are things worth being grateful for, even when slogging through the book writing mire.
Surreal Girl is like a mythical being! Her atomic sun smile: I will try and remember this image while I look at some of the grumpy Londinum dwellers I see very day :)
Londinium has many amazing sights, but the atomic sun smile of Surreal Girl is one to truly marvel at. I do not think anyone has called her mythical before, but she is certainly fabulous.
So, another belated congratulations! from me, as well. :) This looks to be quite an entertaining read. Hopefully as much so as "Secrets and Lies". ;-)
Your lovely descriptive phrase brings to mind a scenario of this as what you see, growing until everyone around you can also see the fabulous girl with the atomic sun smile. Dunno if I said that very well. :)
Love your writing, David, as always. It has been too long since I have stopped by!
